How IPS Works with Clients
IPS does not simply sell equipment. We work with clients through the full lifecycle of modular projects: from concept and process design, through detailed engineering and fabrication support, to relocation, commissioning, and optimization of operating units.
Our services are built around what is realistic in the field. We focus on designs that can actually be fabricated, transported, installed, started up, and maintained under real project constraints.
Process Engineering & Technology Support
IPS provides process engineering and technology support for both new units and revamps. We combine practical field experience with a strong understanding of refining, petrochemical, and gas processing technologies.
- Process simulations, heat & material balances, and operating case development.
- Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, and control philosophy preparation.
- Sizing of major equipment (vessels, exchangers, pumps, compressors, reactors, columns).
- Relief analysis and safeguarding checks.
- Feasibility and concept studies for new units and debottlenecking.
In addition, IPS supports specific technologies including PDH, MTO, LAB, FCC, hydrocracking & hydrotreating, base oil units, and fatty acid/fatty alcohol plants, helping clients evaluate options, revamp existing assets, and address performance problems.
Modular Design & Skid Engineering
A core IPS competency is the translation of process design into practical modular units. We engineer skid-mounted packages that can be fabricated in a controlled environment and then installed quickly on site.
- Modular layout development and 3D model reviews.
- Skid frame design, lifting and transport considerations.
- Equipment arrangement for access, maintenance, and inspection.
- Piping design within the skid battery limits.
- Instrument location, cable routing, junction box layouts.
- Interface definition: tie-in points, utilities, and control integration.
This modular approach reduces field construction time, minimizes shutdown windows, and lowers overall project risk compared with stick-built installations.
Fabrication Support & Vendor Coordination
IPS works closely with fabrication yards and key equipment vendors to ensure that modular packages are built according to specification and are inspectable by third parties and end users.
- Preparation of mechanical datasheets and requisitions.
- Vendor technical bid evaluation and alignment.
- Review of vendor drawings and documents.
- Fabrication follow-up and inspection support.
- Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for modular skids.
Fabrication can be executed in China, the UAE, or other qualified shops, depending on project logistics, schedule, and cost constraints.
Plant Relocation, Rebuild & Refurbishment
IPS supports clients who want to relocate and reuse existing units or equipment. Instead of scrapping plants, assets can often be dismantled, upgraded, and rebuilt as modular packages for a new site.
- Site survey, data collection, and relocation concept development.
- Dismantling planning, tagging, and packing methodology.
- Engineering checks for new design conditions and codes.
- Refurbishment scope definition and upgrade recommendations.
- Conversion of used units into modular, skid-mounted packages.
This approach can significantly reduce cost and delivery time compared with completely new construction, while still providing a properly engineered and documented unit.
Rental Projects & Temporary Solutions
For short-term needs, IPS offers rental units combined with engineering and start-up support. This is particularly useful for commissioning, pilot production, temporary bypass, or capacity bridging.
- Definition of rental scope and integration with existing facilities.
- Selection and configuration of rental process units.
- Temporary piping, tie-ins, and control integration strategy.
- Commissioning support and basic operating procedures.
Rental solutions can cover test separation, crude oil treatment, gas dehydration, filtration and conditioning, and other modular services depending on fleet availability.
Commissioning, Start-Up & Troubleshooting
IPS can assist during commissioning and start-up of new modular units or revamped facilities, helping clients reach stable, on-spec operation faster.
- Pre-commissioning and commissioning planning.
- Procedure development for flushing, leak testing, and system checks.
- Support during first start-up and operating parameter adjustment.
- Troubleshooting of process performance, control issues, and reliability problems.
- Operator training on process understanding and normal/emergency operation.
Documentation, Standards & Compliance
IPS produces documentation sets that align with client standards and regulatory expectations, helping projects pass internal and external reviews.
- Design basis and process descriptions.
- PFDs, P&IDs, cause & effect diagrams, and line lists.
- Equipment datasheets, instrument index, I/O lists.
- Operating manuals and maintenance guidelines for modular units.
- Support for third-party review and client approval cycles.
